Why shop with purpose?

Why shop with purpose?

Purpose.  A word that carries so much importance. Purpose is defined as “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.”

Why do people shop? The purpose of shopping is for people to be able to purchase goods that they need or want, right?   Can there be a deeper purpose for shopping? Can the act of shopping for one’s needs or desires actually have a bigger impact than just meeting a personal need or want?

YES! YES! YES IT CAN!

Khutsala™ Artisans is a Heart for Africa initiative that sells beautiful authentic African jewelry and home décor items all handcrafted by local Swazi artisans.  Each purchase from Khutsala Artisans makes a difference in someone else’s life --- empowering others with each sale.

Eswatini is a country with ongoing struggles such as extreme poverty, food insecurity and very high unemployment.  Eswatini has the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world, and this pandemic has left almost 500,000 orphans and vulnerable children in its wake.  Eswatini needs HOPE. And Khutsala Artisans is doing just that in a number of ways.

This is what shopping at Khutsala Artisans does:

100% of the profits from the sale of Khutsala Artisan goods goes directly back to the care of orphans and vulnerable children living in Eswatini, Africa.  Heart for Africa has rescued over 270 orphaned or abandoned children and given them a home on their 2,500-acre farm called Project Canaan.  It is here that these children are being raised specifically to become the next generation of leaders in Eswatini, leaders that we believe will be the solution seekers for the many challenges this nation faces today.  Your purchase will not only provide care for these children but will impact the future of a nation!

Khutsala Artisans also incorporates social sustainability by providing fair wage employment to local Swazis. Most of our artisans are the sole breadwinners in their families. Our artisans support on average 13 people back in their homesteads.  The sale of our goods ensures we are able to provide these valuable job opportunities.  Providing employment gives our artisans a sense of purpose and dignity.  They know that they are not only providing for their own families but they are also proud that the work they do supports the care of the most vulnerable children in their country.

Whether its sustainability or giving back, shopping with purpose changes the meaning behind what and from where you buy.  Whenever you purchase from Khutsala Artisans, you can trust that our mission is carried out with ethical and mindful decisions regarding social responsibility.

Shop with Purpose today.
